This event offers a range of colour coded courses up to Blue,
on the undulating parkland and woodland of the Wimpole Hall Estate.

A range of courses are on offer with different distances and skill levels, as follows:
White (Very easy) | 1.6 km | 25m climb |
Yellow (Easy) | 2.1 km | 25m climb |
Orange (Moderate) | 3.2 km | 55m climb |
Light Green (Moderate) | 4.1 km | 45m climb |
Short Green (Hard) | 3.5 km | 60m climb |
Green (Hard) | 4.6 km | 70m climb |
Blue (Hard) | 7.1 km | 100m climb |
Course lengths are 'as the crow flies' so are only indicative. Actual routes on the ground will be somewhat longer.
All courses will use Sportident electronic punching.
In addition there will be a Micro orienteering maze. |
Map and Terrain |
Wimpole Hall Park is naturalistic parkland with contours (!), chalk depressions, small woodland features and a former quarry. Map is 1:10,000 scale with 5m contours, waterproof with preprinted courses, A4 sized. Control descriptions on maps. Loose control descriptions. |

Individual competitors:
Adults £7 (£2 discount for senior members of British Orienteering)
Students & Juniors £3 (Juniors are under 21)
Second anf more juniors in the same family group £3
Groups:
Family groups sharing one map/dibber are charged at the single adult rate.
Group of juniors sharing one map and dibber are charged as a single junior.
Dibber hire: 50p.

Safety |
There are uncrossable fences, cattle grids and ditches to control livestock and marked crossings must be used. Courses may run through fields containing livestock and care should be exercised near livestock. There is deep water associated with a landscaped open lake area. The lake edges are clearly defined. Long trousers are advisable due to thistles and nettles. Take care for the usual hazards such as tripping, rabbit holes and eye-level branches. Please show consideration to other park users. |

By Car: Use the National Trust car park at Wimpole Hall, Postcode for Sat Nav SG8 0BW, grid ref . Unless you are a National Trust member you will need to pay £2 for parking.
Wimpole Hall is located close to the A603 near Orwell and is well signposted as a National Trust attraction. For travel directions by bike, car, or rail see the National Trust Wimpole Website. |

We will be using electronic punching. SI cards will be available to hire for 50p.
Beginners are very welcome at this event and help will be available to get you started. Please read our webpage What is orienteering? It should answer any questions you have.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times. There are cattle and sheep on the parkland. Dogs must be on leads in the parking area and in the vicinity of livestock.
