This is an entry-on-the-night event in an area not used for orienteering for several years, with a recently updated map.

A good head torch is usually considered essential for night orienteering.

Courses Night Orienteering colour coded courses are a similar standard to normal colour coded equivalents, but are shorter.
Courses are as follows:
Ochre(Dark Yellow)easy1.7 km
Marmalade(Dark Orange)moderate2.6 km
Olive(Dark Green)hard3.1 km
Navy(Dark Blue)hard4.5 km
Chocolate(Dark Brown)hard6.1 km

Please note that competitors on the longer courses (Olive, Navy and Chocolate) will have to climb over a fence (potentially twice), and that some of the controls will involve climbing up and down steep banks.
Travel Directions Access to the event will be on a forest road leading N off the A1101 Mildenhall to Bury St Edmunds Road. The entrance is about 1.2 km East of the Barton Mills roundabout.
Parking Please park as directed along the forest rides.
Terrain & Map Mildenhall is a mixture of runnable mature and newly planted conifer woodland with an area of heathland containing some contour features.
Maps will be pre-printed on waterproof paper. Map updated Autumn 2011 by John Ward (NOR), 1:7,500 scale, A4 size.

We will be using electronic punching. SI cards will be available to hire for 50p.

All competitors take part at their own risk.


Data Protection Act: Entry information (name, age-class and club) and the results of this event will be stored on and processed by computer systems under the terms of the British Orienteering Federation's registration under the Data Protection Act. The results from this event will be published on the Internet.
