This event offers a range of colour coded courses on the undulating heathland of Therfield Heath and nearby pockets of woodland. Ideal for newcomers and anyone wanting to try the sport, with contours to challenge the more experienced.

LATEST NEWS Car Parking may be limited on the day, as Royston Runners are also holding an event there the same morning.
Please be prepared for a congested car park, take care when parking and share transport if possible.

Royston Station is about 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes cycle from the Heath.

Courses Colour coded courses as follows:
White (very easy), Yellow (easy), Orange (moderate), Green (hard), and Blue (hard).

All courses will use Sportident electronic punching.
Entries Entry on the day only.

Maps 1:10,000 with preprinted courses, A4 sized, not waterproof.
Please bring a plastic bag to protect your map.
Fees Individual competitors:
Adults £6 (£2 discount for senior BOF and EAOA local club members)
Students & Juniors £2 (Juniors are under 21)
Groups:
Family groups sharing one map are charged at the single adult rate.
Group of juniors sharing one map are charged as a single junior.

Dibber hire: 50p.
Directions By Car: Car Parking spaces may be at a premium on the day. Please share transport if possible.
The car park is next to the Heath Sports Club, Baldock Road, Royston, grid ref .
To avoid congestion, consider parking in Royston; the Princes Mews car park is 10 minutes walk away from registration and is Free on Sundays.

From the west, take the A505 towards Royston, take the second exit at the Little Chef roundabout outside Royston (signposted Therfield and Kelshall) and the sports club is about 1.5km along this road on the right.
From the north or east, to avoid going through the middle of Royston take the A505 towards Baldock, when you get to the Little Chef roundabout take the first exit (signposted Therfield and Kelshall). The sports club is about 1.5km along on the right.

By Train: From Royston station turn right onto Kneesworth Street and walk south 500m until you reach the T-junction. Turn right onto Baldock Road and head W. After about 500m the Heath will appear on your left, with the road to the sports club on the left a little further on. Take care crossing Baldock Road.

We will be using electronic punching. SI cards will be available to hire for 50p.

Beginners are very welcome at this event and help will be available to get you started. Please read our webpage What is orienteering? It should answer any questions you have.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times. There may be sheep on part of the heath. Dogs must be on leads in the parking area and must not be allowed to wander onto the golf course.

Toilet facilities and refreshments are available at the Heath Sports Centre.

All competitors take part at their own risk.


Data Protection Act: Entry information (name, age-class and club) and the results of this event will be stored on and processed by computer systems under the terms of the British Orienteering Federation's registration under the Data Protection Act. The results from this event will be published on the Internet.
