We hope you enjoyed your runs at Wimpole. We hope to see you again soon at another event.
We are working with the National Trust to plan another event at Wimpole at New Year.
In the meantime, our autumn programme continues with weekly clubnights every Wednesday evening, an East Anglian League event in Bush Heath Wood in the Thetford forest on October, a night orienteering event on Therfeiled Heath, and orienteering in the undulating woodlands of Rowney Warren.
Full details will appear on the website for each of these events.

Changes at Wimpole offered the chance for the longer courses to visit the revamped folly area for the first time in many years – I hope that you enjoyed the views back to the house.

Another change was further work by the contractor on the new fence by 48 in the last week – I hope the slightly changed alignment to that mapped did not cause too much confusion. Best route choices at Wimpole are generally straight line, fences permitting, but listening to accounts of the straight or around choice between 60 and 61 in the western woods, apparently some of those choosing to go straight drifted off line. The path was further but simpler, while the straight line was probably faster but only if executed correctly. Thankyou for the positive feedback, and for understanding the constraints involved in our enjoying this fine Capability Brown landscape.

Controller's Comments

We had a record turnout on Sunday, and as a result we ran short of maps on the Yellow and Short Green courses. Thank you to all who donated their maps so they could be re-used. We are usually able to print out extra maps if necessary, but not if someone forgets to bring the printer. In this case that someone was me, so please accept my apologies.
