Organiser's Comments

Thank you for coming to Bar Hill and for your positive comments about the area and the courses. This is the second time that I have planned there with SI and, as a number of you commented, it is an area that is well worth the effort of using SI. Obviously for a geriatric planner the amount of leg work on the day is daunting so I am very grateful to Maurice Hemingway who helped with putting out the controls and running the Start and above all to John Ockenden and Joe Hobbs of CUOC who had cycled out and were hugely helpful in collecting in the controls with care as we waited for the last finishers. (We then managed to fit 2 bikes and 3 people into the Postman Pat Tardis for the return to Cambridge.)

I knew that the Open O Map was a less than perfect representation of the area and had on Tuesday found a couple of places where unmapped fences or garages intruded onto route choices but unfortunately the Long Course straight route choice from 11 to 12 was blocked by another unmapped row of garages which I had not found and this had affected some people and not others: I’m very sorry about that. Thank you to those who identified that and other places where the map needs to be altered before it is used again.
