Planner's Comments

Firstly, apologies to early runners who found control 72 somewhat displaced from its correct position. This was corrected as soon as it was reported but by then, unfortunately, several of you will have wasted some time here.

There were several comments on Control 82 (the pit in the rhodos). I did want the longer courses to sample all the variety of terrain, including this area, which is becoming more accessible as the rodos grow up. The veg boundary is very indistinct here but nevertheless the southern part is distinctly less dark green than the northern part (and distinctly less dark green than it was previously) and I would maintain the map is accurate. This was perhaps something of a Bingo control, but that could probably have been said of any control placed in that area.

There was obviously some difficulty finding control 73 depending on the direction of approach. However this was hung in the intended place as taped, and its position relative to the path and thickets to the north was confirmed to be correct.

Despite these imperfections, I was pleased to receive some very positive comments. I hope on balance you enjoyed your runs. Thanks to all who turned out and made the most of the November sunshine.

Finally, thanks to Bob Hill for helping to set out and collect the controls, and to Steve Hardy (SMOC) for managing to keep the map up to date in spite of almost daily changes as undergrowth was cleared, as well as helpful comments on the draft courses.
