Huntingdon Urban (SEOUL) event 2012 Results

Organiser's Comments

From the comments made by runners after finishing, the first event in the SEOUL was very successful. Although we used the same area as for the urban race in 2010 the different start and finish locations allowed the courses to be very different. The courses seem to have been enjoyed by everybody so thanks for this go to Peter for planning and Mike for his guidance. Thanks also to Peter Woods for managing the online entries and to all the helpers on the day who made the event run smoothly. It was the first outing for the new WAOC tent, made by Kyham, which also went up smoothly in only a few minutes!

The next event in the SEOUL is at Poole on 26th May. More locallly, WAOC's Summer Series begins in Cambridge on 19th May.

Planner's Comments

Completion of works still under construction in 2010 offered the opportunity for a new perspective on Huntingdon. I tried to exploit the different character areas of the town to give some variety and keep competitors thinking.
The ring-road constrains all but the shortest courses - hopefully the women ultra-vets felt they got their money's worth after comments about course combinations at previous urban events. Traffic and BOF rules unfortunately ruled out junior courses - an early plan to use a 1:1000 map of Castle Hills across the road foundered on the very small size of the area. Thankyou to Mike for keeping me on the straight and narrow.
