Organiser's Comments
Thanks for coming to our club night 5K/3K/1K event in Impington Village College with particular thanks to the Headmaster, better known to us as
Robert Campbell of CHIG, who facilitated our use of the College, brought his family (including Grandma and Grandad), to compete on all the available
courses and who very nearly beat Matthew on the Long course (but he is twice your age Matthew!): Ian Stemp was the first WAOC home.
The Medium course was won by Matt Leach of CU Hare and Hounds. There were 3 Orange runners and they all had different courses to avoid
following: they also had the most difficult controls - mapped goal posts with lots of unmapped ones all around and a strip of green artificial turf
in the middle of nowhere. Well done to Dylan, Sam and Oliver who all had good runs - good luck on the Orange course on Sunday, lads.
Peter and I apologise profusely for the misplacement of 2 control boxes on the night (one in the College and the other at a fence end which was
distinctly overgrown). We are grateful to Peter Woods who returned to registration to alert us to these problems, one of which we remedied but too
late for most runners. In the end it was unanimously decided to void legs 5-6 and 12-13 on the Long Course. The Orange runners who also visited the fence end did not seem to have any problems or else kept them to themselves so we have not voided a leg on their course.
Splits have also been uploaded to Winsplits and can be found here: WinSplits. These do not, however, have the excluded controls on the long course taken out.
Finally, thank you, Caroline, for visiting the College when everything was under snow and for making as many map updates as she could under the circumstances. Caroline and Robert have plans for further map updates and an extension over the road to make a 1:4000 sprint map: watch this space!
