Thanks to all who turned up on a warm and sunny evening. Congratulations to Cath and Janet on jointly winning the 30 Minute score and to Jonny Pye and Andrea Stefkova on being top in the 50 minute version. We had one cyclist who wasn't running after injuring his ankle playing football the night before.
As hoped no one was fast enough to complete all the controls and the scoring system meant that runners had a tactical decision about which area of the map to concentrate on (for those unfortunate enough to not be present there were 10 controls worth 30 points each controls in the northern area, 10 controls worth 40 points each in the southern area, 10 controls worth 20 points each in the western area close to the pub and the remaining 10 controls were worth 10 points each and were closish to the pub in north/east/south directions).

There was a little confusion about Control 50 on the longer course. It was specifically mentioned as being worth no points which some thought a misprint or misread, others thought it was really mean. So ... it has been decided to give this control 25 points. This hasn't changed the overall winner but has meant some minor shuffling in the listing. There will be those who ignored it as worthless, so as it is obvious from the results who went to that control then a bespoke result list may be made by people with/without this control.

A bit of analysis shows that the most popular controls were the 20 pointers close to The Red Lion and the least popular were the 20 pointers on the western edge of the map.

The following table shows the number of visits each control got (for the 50 minute score).

[For those who are interested (not sure who will be, but if you've got this far keep persevering) the map was derived from open orienteering map ( http://oomap.co.uk/ ). The hardest thing was getting a sensible scale with controls 29 and 45 (either end of guided busway) and control 36 (sculpture garden) on the map. The PDF map was then used in Purple Pen and the maps laser printed on 120 gsm paper.]

So .... the results .....
