Here are results from the Therfield clubnight.

Organiser's Comments

I hope everybody enjoyed their runs around Therfield. The area is a little difficult to plan on given the large amount of OOB due to the golf course. I wanted to take the longer courses into the wood on the far side which gives a little bit more of a technical challenge; it is just unfortunate that there are so many nettles.

I am sorry that we ran out of maps - we never expected so many people to turn up!! I am also sorry that those who did Long Green had parts of the course hand drawn and confusing control numbering, again due to a printing error.

The loop on the green course was meant to break you up a bit and stop following occuring. I am not sure of the exact name of this particular variation, but it's similar to a butterfly loop. I know it has been used at major championships, so it's good practice to try it in a relaxed environment!. Some of you went around the outside 4 controls first, then across the middle, whilst the others went across the middle first and then around the outside. Everybody still ran the same legs, just in a slightly different order. For those people who did the green course, but retired, we were unable to determine which variation you'd done and so you've been put on Green (A), even though your map may not have said this.

Overall, I hope you all found the courses interesting and most importantly had a good time!

There are no results for the loops as these were intended for training and learning, not competition. I think people did learn from these and enjoyed going out for a just short while before being able to talk to somebody about what they’d done. Some of the juniors just did loops, and some did a loop or two and then a course, but seemed to enjoy the running races and silly games that we played at the end more than anything else!

I would like to thank those people who had to wait for a recycled map and consequently had to retire, Mark Scaife who collected in a swathe of controls and particular thanks to Matthew who collected in the remaining ones in the dark.
