Cambourne - Not-So-Night-O Event Tue, 12 April 2011

Organiser's Comments

Despite the pessimistic weather forecast, we had a fine evening for the final winter league event and first WAOC event at Cambourne. Good scoring in a 60 minute urban and parkland score event saw Russ not quite clearing the available controls, using his adventure race strategising to advantage. If John had not cycled, and had finished before it started to get gloomy, then it might have been closer.

I was pleased to hear that the complex web of the new settlement was unforgiving at race speed. Helen was first lady, with the same score as Joel, the first novice. Considering that answers (some perhaps a little cryptic) had to be written down, these were impressive results. With timing recorded only to the nearest minute, I was unable to split the places for 4th and 12th.

Apologies for confusing posts and lampposts for two fire hydrant descriptions - too much late night 'copy and paste' I fear. I hope that we can enjoy more of Cambourne in a future event when the birds are not ground-nesting.

Thank you to MCA Developments and the Wildlife Trust for access permission.
