Organiser's Comments

Despite our not getting the planned access to the bridge chapel, fine weather allowed the event to go ahead on the historic St Ives bridge. Competitors had the choice of when to swap from map memory (30 points per control) to map (10 points per control). The results show some very different strategies. John's memory eventually defeated Dil's getting all but 10 of the 62(!) controls. Considering that included writing down the answer, then Dils' exceeding 1 control per minute was impressive, but not enough to win. Hopefully this event provided useful practice at fast and furious urban-O for those who went on to the London City Race at the weekend, and a fitting end to the 2009 Galoppen season.
