CUOC and WAOC proudly present the joint Thetford Thrash 2011,
a weekend of two Level 2 (Regional) Events in neighbouring areas of Thetford Forest.

Day 1 at High Lodge is the Icenian and also the first East Anglian League event of 2011.
The Day 2 event at Croxton Heath is also the East Anglian Championships.

Both events will be using electronic punching. SI cards will be available to hire for 50p per day.

Latest News 27 Jan: Pre-entries are now closed. Entries on the day will be limited by map availability, which on Day 2 on some courses is VERY LIMITED. A table of map numbers remaining has been added below
24 Jan: Latest News on Parking on Day 1: We have not been able to negotiate reduced car parking fees, but the Forestry Commission have offered a free return visit to all competitors. Tickets will be available from the marshal at the entrance or at enquiries. You will still have to pay on the day but will have free access all day if you come again on another occasion. The ticket is transferable i.e. if you have come from afar but want to give it to a local friend that is fine.
21 Jan: Anyone not yet entered, expecting to run with a version 8 dibber will find it is not compatible with the SI units on Day 1 (but will be OK on Day 2). We can loan a replacement to those affected. Please contact entries@waoc.org.uk
If you do not have the faintest idea what version your dibber is, then you almost certainly are OK. If your dibber number is 6 digits or less you do not have to worry.

By car
Croxton Heath is 3 miles north of Thetford. Follow signs to Croxton from the A11 north of Thetford, then follow signs to event. Grid Reference TL881888
Train and Bike
Nearest station is Thetford and it is less than 3 miles cycling. The only scheduled Sunday Service train from Cambridge to meet 10.30-12-30 starts is 10.48 arriving at 11.30 am. There are plenty of return trains scheduled. Please check train service availability and schedule before travelling.
Registration For entry on the day, registration will be 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Start Times The start is expected to operate between 10:30 and 12:30
Start times will be available, when allocated, on the Fabian4 website. We are using 15 minute start blocks rather than individual start times. The time shown on Fabian4 is the start of each 15 minute block (e.g. if your start time is shown as 11:15 your start block is from 11:15 to 11:29). You may start at any available time, but priority will be given to those competitors who have been allocated to the current start block.
Terrain Day 1
The terrain is mostly flat, consisting mostly of managed coniferous forest, with some deciduous areas. There is an interesting area of depressions in the West and an area of complex vegetation boundaries in the South East. There is a good path network, although there are many mountain bike trails which will be strictly out of bounds.

Day 2
One of the better bits of Thetford Forest, with a good mixture of broadleaved and coniferous forest and open heathland. Generally runnable, with some interesting contour detail in parts.
Icenian Trophy The Icenian Trophy will be awarded to the club with the lowest score when the positions of their top ten placed runners are added. A minimum of ten runners is required. Results from each course will be counted together, even if competitors are in different age classes.
This is the same method of scoring as used last time, and replaces the more complicated formula indicated in the preliminary details.
